Love Food Surrey campaign

1 in 5 bags of food shopping gets thrown away -please help support Surrey's food waste campaign.

Surrey County Council is encouraging residents to go green and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, by reducing food waste.

Recent research indicates that Surrey residents produce about 83,000 tonnes of food waste every year with treatment and disposal costs in the region of £7.6 million. It also has significant environmental implications both in terms of its transportation, production and storage and according to WRAP wasted food costs the average family up to £50 a month 1...

The Love Food Surrey campaign will be helping households waste less food by developing recipe ideas for leftovers, showing how they can shop smarter, store food better and how to measure perfect portions, aiming to stimulate a behaviour change in residents that sees them throwing away less food. This will result in significant environmental and financial savings i1'1 terms of avoided production and disposal and will help residents to save money.
