Saturday 30th April saw yet another successful Surrey Heath Show which was enjoyed by thousands of people. The weather was perfect and the event had a variety of attractions for all the family. The highlight being the arrival of Surrey Air Ambulance which had to depart shortly after its arrival in the morning but it returned later in the afternoon.

There was certainly a lot to do during the day, the miniature railway not only ran a full days service but brought on to site a static display for youngsters of all ages  to look at. There was a choice of over one hundred stalls to either spend money at or to get information. Twenty five of these were community groups and charities who took the opportunity to raise their profiles as well as money. Children had the choice of several bouncy castles and for the tots there were roundabouts. Alongside these over fifty classic cars were on view and these included Montgomery’s Rolls Royce and a 1934 Nash. The marquee housed a range of craft stalls and refreshments organised by the Guides with the Camberley Youth Wind Orchestra providing music throughout the day. The main arena saw a variety of performances, ranging from local dance groups, a Lion dance and displays by the Camberley Judo Club. Frimley Park Hospital Radio Outside Broadcast team provided an excellent running commentary of events and activities throughout the day. Other activities included a Companion Dog Show which attracted entries from 150 owners and their dogs, alongside this there was a fun agility course for dogs. For the more green fingered members of the public there was the opportunity to top up plants in their gardens and displays by RHS members who gave out plenty of advice. Support also came in the form of the presence of both the local Police and Fire Services and the Army Cadets who did a brilliant  job of arranging the car parking on the day. The event was supervised by the Show’s mascot, Spike the hedgehog, a popular character with the children.

Overall this Family Fun Day out probably surpassed the previous ones in attracting more crowds, and a great time was had by all
